National Signing Day 2020 (part one)

An open thread to herald our future Broncos

NCAA Football: Mountain West Championship-Hawaii at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos may be down in Vegas, but all around the country the next wave of Broncos are sending in their letters-of-intent. It’s national signing day part 1 and here are the guys that have already signed on the dotted line. We’ll keep you posted throughout the day and talk about this 2020 class.

Russell Corrigan, TE, Hutchinson HS (MN)

Latrell Caples, WR, Lancaser HS (TX)

According to the 247sports composite, Caples is the top commit in the ‘20 class with a .8681 rating (borderline 4-star). He picked the Broncos over offers from Missouri, Boston College, Bowling Green, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, La Tech, Nebraska, North Texas, Ole Miss, Syracuse, Utah, AND WSU.

Robert Cooper, DL, Bethel HS (WA)

Shane Irwin, DE, Long Beach CC (CA)

Isaiah Bradford, S, Redlands East Valley HS (CA)

Divine Obichere, DL, Long Beach CC (CA)

The first “surprise” of signing day is the commitment of Obichere, who received an offer last week while on a visit with LBCC teammate Shane Irwin (who committed on the visit). It’s assumed that Obichere was one of yesterday’s “Go Broncos” commits and he’ll help fill an area of immediate need with Sonatane Lui and David Moa both graduating.

Nathan Cardona, OL, Yorba Linda HS (CA)

Brandon Hernandez, OL, Yucaipa HS (CA)

Donovan Clark, CB, Lincoln HS (WA)

Semaj Verner, S, Mayfair HS (CA)

Riden Leong, OL, Orange Coast College (CA)

Herbert Gums, DT, Diboll HS (TX)

Gums is a HUGE recruit for the Broncos because of area of need, but also because he’s...huge. His highlight tape is like watching an educational film reel about the dangers of stepping in front of a train.

Kaonohi Kaniho, DB, Kahuku HS (HI)

If the name sounds familiar...it should. His older brother Kekaula has been a fixture on the Bronco defense for the last 3 years and was a first-team MWC selection this season.

Austin Bolt, TE, Borah HS (ID)

Nice little semi-surprise as local do-literally-everything player Austin Bolt signs with the Broncos. If you follow local ball at all (football or basketball), Bolt is one heckuva player. Joins a long list of local products to sign with the Broncos as tight-ends. Bolt is unique though in that he played about every position at Borah. Will be interesting to follow his Bronco career.

Rodney Robinson, DB, Cajon HS (CA)

BIG surprise with this one...not because no one thought we could get him...just no one really knew were WERE recruiting him. So definitely no homework done on this one (on our end), but a cursory glance at his profile shows he fielded offers from WSU, UNLV, Howard, Nevada, UNM, Oregon State, Princeton, San Diego State, Wyoming, and Yale. Smart kid.
