Boise State recruit profile: Cory Young

Recruiting-rect_medium

Everyone has a favorite ice cream (mine: Blizzards) and a favorite running back style (mine: Christian Okoye), so fans of speed backs, jitterbugs, and home run hitters will be pleased to see Cory Young in the Boise State backfield. Not pleased to see Young in a blue-and-orange backfield are the 10 other schools to give him a scholarship offer, including Washington State and Nevada. Passing up the opportunity to be a skinny Vai Taua? This kid has his head on straight.

Scouting report

Via Young's scouting of himself:

Young models his game after Oregon standout De'Anthony Thomas.

"He's my role model, my idol," Young said. "I feel like we're not the biggest people on the field, but we're definitely the quickest and the fastest. I like making people miss, using my speed. If I have to run somebody over, I can do it, but I prefer making them miss."

Chance that Chris Petersen flips him to UW

Petersen has no running backs in his current recruiting class, but Young committed after Petersen left - SO HANDS OFF. It's also likely that offensive coordinator Mike Sanford played a role in Young's Boise choice because Sanford coached Young's brother at Stanford last year.
