It’s Awards Watch Season for CFB and it’s always fun when Boise State gets to play along with the fun.
Having said that Agent Zero—aka JL Skinner—is going to be a dude to watch this fall. I mean, he was always a dude to watch but now his performance gets the added bonus of the added note of ‘Jim Thorpe Award Candidate’. But we all knew that notation wasn’t required for US to watch!
This comes after a season where Mr. Skinner was Second Team All-MWC and adds to other preseason accolades: Phil Steele and Athlon All-Mountain West nods.
To date Mr. Skinner has 143 total tackles, 9 TFLs, three INTs, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, and three interceptions.
Not too shabby.
Historically these awards are tough to actually get, and this year won’t be any different. But considering the defense will have another year under Head Coach Avalos’ tutelage we may be able to see Skinner’s name at least in the semi-final list, if not the final.
