It’s another Friday edition of the OBNUG countdown. I hope everyone has a great, and safe, weekend. Today we are still hanging around the 80s (weird how math works, huh?) and that means, generally, a mixture of wide receivers or tight ends. Today’s entry is the latter. With 85 Days left to go we have—WR Matt Lauter
#85, Matt Lauter, RS Freshman, TE

Stats
Height: 6’ 4”
Weight: 240 lbs
High School: Torrey Pines HS, San Diego, CA
How’d he get to The Blue™?
Mr. Lauter came to Boise State from Torrey Pines HS (any relation to the PGA golf course?) as a three-star rated recruit (per 247Sports). Things got weird during his senior year due to the whole pandemic thing but he was still pretty productive his senior season with 140 yards and one touchdown on 10 receptions in four games. His only other offer/interest was UNLV. And, I mean, c’monnnnnnnnnnnnn.
Nickname
“Laufer”
Yeah, don’t Google ‘Matt Laufer’ looking for Boise State references. It’s pretty unhelpful.
Look-alike

We are going to go into the Wayback Machine on this one and go with Jack Palance.
Career Highlights
In a Broncos’ uniform it’s pretty limited and, if you look at his Broncosports.com profile, very brief. Lets just say he’s got some room to grow in this area and definitely looking forward to seeing some more info later on.
2022 Prospectus
After doing the whole “sit out a year to put on 10 pounds” thing, it would be nice to see Matt Lauter get some reps to go along with Riley Smith and Tyneil Hopper. He’s got the size to be an effective blocking TE but also the hands to get his fair share of catches. If he doesn’t get the appropriate amount of time on the field on offense then hopefully he will make an appearance in special teams. Would be a shame to let that size stay on the bench another year.
Is he on Twitter?
Sure is! And a man of few words.

Completely made up fact
You know those reusable Starbucks cups with the straws and covers? He loves those things. Obviously he uses them for things other than coffee (like water!). They have such fun options!
