If you were skeptical before, let there be no more mistaking it: this Bronco MBB team is the best squad that Coach Leon Rice has ever put on a court.

With the close-ish 68-61 win over _yoming in the Mountain West semifinals, the Broncos have set a new school-record 26 wins.

This will set up a match between yet to be determined (as of this writing) Colorado State/ San Diego State winner.

This will also be the firs time that Coach Rice has taken a squad into the Mountain West tournament championship.

The game was somewhat always in control by the Broncos led by Abu Kigab’s 22 points, and Mladen Armus’s 16, the Broncos never trailed and, in fact, at one point led by as many as 16 in the second half.

But, as they are wont to do, they did let the Cowboys hang around more than they should have, allowing the _yoming to come within three points with as little as 27 seconds left in the half.

Funnily enough it was clutch free throw shooting from Marcus Shaver (kind of, he went 1-2) and Emmanuel Akot in those last 27 seconds to really put away the game.

It didn’t hurt that Noa Reynolds missed a three with 12 seconds left down by five (66-61) and an Abu Kigab defensive rebound and score to finally ice the game.

This is truly magical run for the Broncos. With a regular season championship, a NCAA tournament appearance locked down, and a first-ever appearance in the Mountain West championship game, this team has shown a lot ever since the 2-3 start.

Whatever happens in the championship game, the Broncos have a lot to be proud of and they can be excited to still be playing basketball.
