OBNUG basketball coverage this season has been—putting it politely—nonexistent. Unfortunately when working with a bunch of 9-5 average Joes, getting the coverage Nuggies deserve is a challenge.

But the current win-streak that the Broncos men’s squad (16-4) is putting together is worth putting up a note.

Led by Abu Kigab’s 24 points, the Broncos were able to put together another gritty victory against _yoming (15-3) at ExtraMile Arena and extend their winning streak to 13 (third longest in the nation).

The Broncos were holding on to a 30-24 lead heading into half time buoyed by 6-6 free throws (shocker!) and Mladen Armus being good at basketball (and dunking).

Starting the second half, the Broncs did manage to open an 11-point lead (35-24) but the Cowboys were able to take advantage of two Armus fouls—iterally within five seconds of each other—to send him to the bench with four. _yoming use a 14-2 run to take a 42-39 lead.

Boise State was able to put together a small run of their own (15-5) to get back out in front 54-47.

Basketball being basketball, the visitors wouldn’t let that slide without going on another decent run of their own to actually lead 60-58 with just under three minutes left.

Luckily for the Broncos (and our strained hearts) they’ve been in these situations before and came up big, defensively. Abu Kigab came up big in the final 94 seconds by scoring the Broncos’ final seven points and putting the game somewhat out of reach at 65-62.

The Broncos have been on an insane run the last few weeks. With playing the majority of their games on the road (they’re next game is in Fresno) they’ve really learned how to play clutch and win these close games.
