We are the same number of days away from the start of college football as the number of points separating Kellen Moore from an undefeated college football career: 5. So today, we are highlighting...

#5, Stefan Cobbs, RS Junior, Wide Receiver

Stats

Height: 6’0”

Weight: 185 lbs (-1)

High School: Fossil Ridge High School (Keller, TX)

How’d he get to the Blue™?

Stefan Cobbs was a three star recruit, but really had the talent to be a four star. Boise State was lucky to secure a commitment from him after he was injured his junior year because he went off as a senior. He snagged 67 passes for 1,332 yards and 24 (!!!) touchdowns. He was also able to contribute on special teams to the tune of a 22.1 yard kick return average (nine attempts) and a 7.6 yard punt return average (seven attempts). For his efforts he was named the Texas 3-6A All-District MVP.

Nickname

“Static Shock”

It’s literally his Twitter handle...

Look-a-like

Four time NFL All-Pro, Adrian Peterson. Famous for a storied NFL career and for failing to beat Boise State in a certain 2007 Fiesta Bowl of note.

Career Highlights

It’s strange to look at Stefan’s stat line for his career at Boise State and see that his career yardage total is only 129 yards. Because it seems like every time he touches the ball, he does something special with it. So far, though, that’s only translated to 7 receptions for those 129 yards and a touchdown (a 44 yard touchdown, to be specific). He also has two carries for 11 yards. In the highlight reels below you can see some of the most absurd high school wide receiver tape that’s come through Boise State since Shane Williams-Rhodes.

2021 Prospectus

CT Thomas and Khalil Shakir are back to be featured in an offense that portends to be pretty pass-happy. That said, I will again go to bat for my guy, Stefan, in saying that he will make a lot of plays for this team this year. And I’m even more confident that I’ll be proven right in 2021. He’s had a fair amount of buzz from other players and the coaching staff and you can already see the potential in his yards per catch (18). On only 7 career receptions, two of them went for over 40 yards and one for a score. The other was a very shifty display of his athletic potential. Cobbs is an exceptionally talented athlete and if he gets some more volume coming his way this year, he could show the college football world some fireworks.

Is he on Twitter?

Yes. And with a bonus highlight reel!

Completely made up fact

Stefan may have to take a break from football in the future if Warner Brothers ever gets consistent enough in their handling of the DC Cinematic Universe that they can expand it to include Static Shock. That is because...it’s not ficton. Stefan Cobbs is Static Shock.
