Boise State Roster Countdown 2021: Day 35, Jonah Dalmas

Mountain West Football Championship - Boise State v San Jose State Photo by Ethan Miller/Getty Images

Google maps claims that it would take 35.25 days to walk from Albertson’s Stadium to the Bounce House in Orlando, so you better jog a little bit, because we are 35 days away from kickoff. LET’S GO! #35 Jonah Dalmas

#35, Jonah Dalmas, Sophomore, K

Stats

Height: 5’8”

Weight: 160 lbs (-1 lbs)

High School: Rocky Mountain High School, Meridian, ID

How’d he get to the Blue™?

I-84, I imagine. But seriously, after an incredible career as a two-sport athlete at Rocky Mountain, Gatorade POY in soccer and kicker for the football team, Jonah went on a religious mission for 2 years. With opportunities to play either futbol, or football, Dalmas chose to walk on with the Broncos, and earned the starting gig in 2020.

Nickname

Can there be group nicknames? Cause I would really like to see fellow K/P Gavin Wale and Jonah Dalmas as “Jonah and the Wale”, but that will have to wait until Joel Velazquez graduates.

So for now I will go with,

“The Disciple”

His look is very first century, and when he walks on the field you know he is bringing good news.

Look-a-like

A MIGHTY strong resemblance to Thor

Career Highlights

Jonah had a great Freshman campaign. Making seven of eight field goals, 2/2 on FG from over 50 yards. Making all but one, blocked, PAT. This is really good, and many Bronco fans were happy to see him on the field finding such great success.

2021 Prospectus

Dalmas proved himself last year, showing that he has both accuracy, and the leg to make kicks in tough situations. This is likely going to continue. Jonah will be the main guy when it comes to PAT’s and field goals, but he also shared some of the kickoff duties last season. The Broncos have 3 solid guys in Dalmas, Wale, and Velazquez, it will sure be interesting to see how Stacy Collins, the new special teams coach chooses to use these 3 talents.

No matter what, I see Dalmas as the main place kicker, possibly taking on other duties when needed.

Is he on Twitter?

He sure is. But good luck memorizing his handle (@JonahD17771252)

Completely made up fact

Jonah’s tryout for a walk on spot originally started as an interview to be the teams hydration specialist. This was until a group of players accidentally knocked over the 10 gallon Powerade jug that Jonah had just finished filling. In frustration Dalmas kicked the jug, sending it 45 yards through the uprights. They offered him a position on the team right then and there.
