Predicting the Week 1 Depth Chart

It already seems like an eternity since Boise state football last took the field. As we await the September 4th opening game against UCF, one question looming on everyone's minds this offseason is who will be starting, especially with the new coaching staff. I will do my best to predict who I think will start at each position as well as who will fill depth roles.

Who is Boise State's true freshman quarterback? Hank Bachmeier of ...

Let's take a look at my projected 2021 Depth Chart:

A few points:

  • It looks like there will be a true QB battle between Hank and Sears. I expect Hank to just edge out Sears for QB1
  • Even with the loss of Kyheem Waleed the WR corps looks scary good especially witht the additions of Davis Koetter and Eric McAlister.
  • O-line, D-line, and LB should be pretty unchanged from last season and will have a lot of returning experience.
  • Although there will be significant changes in the secondary especially at CB, there is so much talent and experience there that we shouldn't miss a beat.
  • Kick and Punt return were areas that I am completely guessing. Avery Williams will be hard to replace and I am hoping this new staff will avoid using starters in these positions but it's anyone's guess at this point.
  • My breakout Freshman of the year prediction is: Austin Bolt (Offense), Samaj Verner (Defense)
  • Breakout Newcomer: Cyrus Habibi-Likio
  • Offensive MVP: Khalil Shakir SR
  • Defensive MVP: Demitri Washington RS JR
  • Comeback Player of the year: Demitri Washington RS JR
Now it's you're turn. What did I get wrong or right? What would you change?
