We are at 33 days until the (hopeful?) kickoff to Boise State Football. And, before you comment, yes we at OBNUG are more than well aware that the NCAA has finally allowed the number zero to be a wearable number in CFB and that JL Skinner is technically number zero. But, you see, we didn’t know who was going to be number zero at the time this stuff was decided and there MUST BE ORDER OR THERE IS CHAOS. Hence why JL Skinner is still in his previous spot.—S JL Skinner
#33 (Again, yes, we know he’s number 0.), JL Skinner, Sophomore, Safety

Stats
Height: 6’ 4”
Weight: 219 lbs
High School: Point Lima HS, San Diego, CA
How’d he get to the Blue™?
He was a three star recruit per 247Sports and ESPN out of high school. And he made it to Boise State by steering clear of a school in his own back yard, San Diego State (WHICH ISN’T A STATE BY THE WAY) and picking the Broncos. For the record: his offer sheet was... impressive so he had his choice of schools to go to. He did a good by picking the Broncos.
Nickname
“Principal”
I feel like this was a bit more appropriate since he disciplines any poor soul who happens to cross his path.

Career Highlights
He balled out so hard his senior year in high school that he decided to carry some of that mojo over in the FBS level. While he “only” started one game, he appeared in all fourteen. So he definitely made use of his chances. Last year he had 14 tackles and broke up three passes. This is going to be a fun space to fill up.
2020 Prospectus
There is going to be a lot of wiggle room in that Nickel/Safety slot back there. Which is a nice problem to have. We have to figure that the way the Broncos will treat the number zero will be somewhat like the number one. It’s a special number that isn’t given out lightly and to a special dude who has proven that he is ready to “carry the mantle” as it were. Especially given this is the first year with the inclusion of the number the coaches have to see something special with Skinner and—here’s hoping—we also get to see what the coaches get to every practice. If the inclusion in every game as a freshman means anything (it does) it’s going to mean that we will be seeing puh-lenty more of Principal Skinner.
Is he on Twitter?

Completely made up fact
Did you know that the Queen of England owns all the swans in the U.K.? By that same token, JL Skinner actually owns all the footballs that come into Bronco Stadium. Yes, even the visitor footballs. As you can probably guess, he’s antsy to reclaim some of them.
