I have to say, today is a very nice day, don’t you think? So anyways, let’s check in on #69, Garrett Curran!
#69, Garrett Curran, RS Sophomore, OL
Weight: 304 lbs (+9 lbs)
High School: Granite Hills High School, El Cajon, CA
How’d he get to the Blue™?
Garrett gave Washington State the ultimate cold shoulder, committing to the Broncos just after taking an official visit to Pullman. He also passed on offers from Arizona, Colorado State, Hawaii, Utah State and UC Davis to be a Bronco.
Michael made a good point last year: How will they ever catch on if we change it every year?
Garrett appeared in 12 games last season for the Broncos, starting one. Despite playing in a reserve role last season, he will likely play a much more prominent role this season.
He was First-Team All-San Diego Section for his Granite Hills squad in 2017.
Garrett is poised to take over the right tackle starting job with senior Kole Bailey filling in behind him. There is a lot of inexperience on the 2020 line, but fortunately for Curran, he saw a good amount of play time last season.
Originally I was going to say that Curran’s starting role is maybe the most up in the air, but I am walking that back. Despite some solid play from Jake Stetz, Ben Dooley may shake some things up at LG. I don’t anticipate that happening, at least not at the beginning of the season, but as the season goes on, who knows. I think KHG will start at center and Harrington could slide right over to right guard. Riden Leong could come in and win the RG spot, having played at the JC level. Really, aside from LT, I think a lot of the OL positions are fluid enough that we could see some swapping around by season’s end.
Is he on Twitter?
He’s on Twitter, but he is more of a retweeter than an original content guy. He puts in work in the weight room though!
Completely made up fact
Garrett is such a film and gym nut that he no longer sleeps in his room. He will either crash on a weight bench in the gym or on a couch watching film. He keeps the remote close so he can start watching as soon as he wakes up.
