A little over halfway into the 80s and it looks like players are beginning to arrive on campus. Today we’ll check in on #84, Matt Greenwald.

#84, Matt Greenwald, Freshman, WR

Height: 6’

Weight: 197 lbs (+7 lbs)

High School: Fairview HS, Boulder, DO

How’d he get to the Blue™?

Matt was a preferred walk-on out of Boulder, and after grey-shirting in 2019, he officially enrolled in Boise State in the spring of 2020. While he had offers from Northern Colorado and Western Illinois, he passed and chose to be a Bronco.

Figured it worked since he’s a look alike. Plus, opposing secondaries have a hard time with him.

I think Damien’s from last year was solid. Tom Hardy.

Career Highlights

Finished his 3 year varsity career at Fairview with 2,018 receiving yards on 95 catches and 22 touchdowns. As a senior, when Matt did most of his damage, he accounted for 60 receptions for 1,181 yards and 12 touchdowns. That’s a solid year.

2020 Prospectus

I anticipate Matt will play backup as he has a lot of talent ahead of him. Evans, Shakir and Thomas look to be the starters, and while there isn’t a lot of players with playing time behind them, there is talent. Cobbs, Whiting, Bowens, and Waleed are already on the roster and Caples and Wright will both be looking to make a splash as true freshman.

Having said all of that, it is a ripe opportunity for any younger player, especially a walk-on, to prove their worth. Without a lot of on field experience, there is plenty of opportunity for Matt to earn some playing time this fall.

Is he on Twitter?

He is, and it looks like he’ll be competing against his buddy at Colorado State.

Completely made up fact

As proof of his fact from last year, Matt has established himself as a menace to vending machines on campus. They have replaced 22 so far since his arrival on campus and there is little end in site. He won’t go near vending machines with Mr Goodbar in them, though. He doesn’t like those.
