Weaver finally hears name called; is off to Miami

NFL: Combine Trevor Ruszkowski-USA TODAY Sports

In any other year, one would think a talent like Curtis Weaver would’ve been a surefire first-rounder. Surely, no lower than a second rounder, right?! Well, this isn’t any other year as we keep being reminded and Mr. Weaver had to wait a tad longer (okay a LOT longer) to hear his name called by a clearly delirious Roger Goodell. With pick #19 of the FIFTH round, the Mountain West’s all-time sack leader (in just 3 seasons, mind you) was just taken by the Miami Dolphins, ending a nervous and perplexing time for Bronco fans across the globe. Hey, like the old adage states, “it’s not where you start, it’s where you finish”...Weaver just got his shot and clearly has the talent to not only make a roster, but be an immediate impact player. Dolphins literally just got a steal.

I’m sure there will be plenty of OPINIONS about just why Weaver slid so far (was called a fringe first rounder by several outlets just a few short months ago), but that’s all in the past now. Will Smith would like to welcome you to Miami.
