2020 Boise State Recruiting Roundup: 1/13/20

You’ll notice I didn’t post an article last week. That’s because it has been quiet. A little too quiet. Really, the only news we have had has been that Lee Marks is leaving for Fresno. Now, there has been a dead period going on that lifts this week, but that’s really just for visits and coaches talking to recruits. It doesn’t bar recruits from committing. It’s been eerily quiet, which leads me to believe the next 2+ weeks are going to be chaos.

I assume we try to heavily tap the transfer/JC market to fill any holes we have, or try and snag any unsigned P5 recruits. All in all, it’s been a weird recruiting cycle for the ‘20 class. Hopefully the coaches can get it rounded out before signing day.

Isaiah Bradford, S, Redlands East Valley HS (Redlands, CA)

Based on available stats, Bradford finished the year with 23 total tackles, 16 solo, and 2 passes defended before his season ended due to injury. Right now, it sounds like the plan is to grayshirt Bradford with his planned enrollment being January 2021. We’ll have to see how that plays out.

Bradford noted on his Twitter on the 13th that they performed surgery to repair his torn ACL.

Highlights

Brandon Hernandez, OL, Yucaipa HS (Yucaipa, CA)

Brandon’s season is over after his Thunderbirds finished 3-7. Brandon, while playing offense, picked up some stats on defense. He had 29 total tackles, 12 solo, 1 qb hurry and 1 pass defended. Final season highlights for Brandon aren’t yet available, but I’ll update when they are.

Highlights

Russell Corrigan, TE, Hutchinson Senior HS (Hutchinson, MN)

I finally have stats for Corrigan!

Rushing - 154 rushes 889 yards (5.8 ypc) 31 TDs 1 fumble

Defensive - 3 Total tackles, 1 INT

Very interesting stat line for a player we recruited at TE. It certainly shows he is an athlete, which is what we like!

Highlights

Donovan Clark, CB, Lincoln HS (Tacoma, WA)

Lincoln lost to Eastside Catholic 21-34 in the semifinals of the Washington 3A State Football Playoffs. Lincoln ends their season at 10-3. Donovan finally seems to have updated stats for the season. He has 21 total tackles, 10 solo, 1 TFL, 1 interception and 5 pass breakups.

LaTrell Caples, WR, Lancaster HS (Lancaster, TX)

The Tigers lost to Lone Star 20-38, ending their playoff run. They finish their season at 11-3. Stats weren’t available in the win. LaTrell had 59 receptions for 1,021 yards (17.3 ypc) and 12 TDs.

The Pirates season is over.

Highlights

Chance Luper, WR, Fort Worth Christian HS (North Richlands Hills, TX)

Luper did not sign with the Broncos on Wednesday. The assumption is he signs with Missouri as his dad was just hired to coach for the Tigers. He has not yet signed with Missouri, but most are anticipating he does so.

Semaj Verner, S, Mayfair HS (Lakewood, CA)

Verner’s Mayfair Monsoons ended their season at 5-6 after losing 12-42 to Chino Hills in the first round of the Divion 5A CIF Southern Section playoffs. Stats for Verner are not yet available.

Austin earned Idaho’s Gatorade Player of the Year honors after amassing 2,771 yards of total offense and 36 touchdowns. That includes 1,391 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns and 1,380 passing yards and 10 more touchdowns. He also had 62 tackles on defense with 4 interceptions. He literally did everything for the Lions.

The Lions lost to Highland in the 5A State playoff quarterfinals, ending their season at 7-3.

Highlights

Rodney Robinson, CB, Cajon HS (San Bernardino, CA)

Robinson is a 3-star recruit with offers from Washington State, Oregon State, Yale, Princeton, Howard and a handful of MW teams.
