I’m still in shock.
I don’t know about you, but I wasn’t super optimistic at half. I wasn’t writing the team off by any means, but based on play in the first half, things didn’t look good.
They obviously made adjustments.
The defense played lights out and the offense finished. Maybe not exactly how we wanted them to, but they got it done. It’s the beginning of a new era!
Speaking of new eras, it’s time to look ahead to the 2020 class and keep tabs on them. The Bronco coaching staff was active in the months leading up to kick off, already securing 5 commitments this off-season. Let’s get up to speed!
Isaiah Bradford, S, Redlands East Valley HS (Redlands, CA)
The Broncos are already dipping into talent rich California. Bradford, the cousin of RB Alexander Mattison, was the first commit of the Broncos 2020 class. Listed at 6’ and 170 lbs, Bradford passed on offers from Colorado, Colorado State and San Jose State.
The Wildcats are off to a rough 0-2 start. They lost to La Habra on 8/30 56-7 and to 33-14 to Santa Margarita on 8/24. Stats were not available for the La Habra game, but Bradford had 2 receptions for 18 yards as well as 13 total tackles, 8 solo and 2 passes defended.
Next up for REVHS is Mission Hills (1-1) on Friday, 9/6 at 7:00pm.
Brandon Hernandez, OL, Yucaipa HS (Yucaipa, CA)
Hernandez is a massive player. Coming in at 6’ 6” and 275 lbs, I’d like to remind you that he just started his senior season. He passed on offers from Cal, Oregon, Arizona State, Washington State, Colorado and a handful of MW teams.
While stats aren’t generally kept for offensive lineman, the Yucaipa Thunderbirds took down Grand Terrace on Friday 34-20 to start the season 1-0.
Next up for the Thunderbirds is Serrano (2-0) on Friday, 9/6 at 7:00pm.
Russell Corrigan, TE, Hutchinson Senior HS (Hutchinson, MN)
The Broncos dove into unknown territory to recruit Corrigan. I’m not sure we have recruited Minnesota before, but the 6’ 3” 230 lb TE caught the coaches eye. Corrigan had offers from a few MW schools along with Ivy League schools Princeton and Harvard.
HSHS is off to a hot 2-0 start after beating SCTSJP and St. Cloud Tech, both by scores of 28-21. Stats for Corrigan in the win are not yet available.
HSHS takes on Baker (1-0) this Friday, 9/6, at 7:00pm.
Donovan Clark, CB, Lincoln HS (Tacoma, WA)
Clark was a massive get for the Broncos. The 6’ 3” 190 lb corner passed on offers from Oregon, Washington State, Oregon State, Colorado, Utah State and Wyoming to be a Bronco. Clark was a transfer from Sumner HS out of Sumner, WA.
Lincoln has not yet played this season. They take on Camas (0-0) this Friday, 9/6 at 7:00pm.
Kaohoni Kaniho, CB, Kahuku HS (Kahuku, HI)
Kaohoni, brother of current Bronco Kekaula, committed to the Broncos in August and was the most recent commit. Listed at 5’ 10” and 160 bs, Kaniho passed on an offer from Hawaii to come to Boise State.
Kahuku is already 3-1 on the season with wins against KKHS (21-13), Wai’anae (32-0) and Campbell (35-7) with the lone loss coming against Mililani (32-0). Stats for Kaniho in those games is not yet available.
Kahuku takes on Timpview (1-2) this Friday, 9/6 at 7:00pm.
Lots of videos for this class so far! Hopefully that trend continues. Check in next week to see how they all do this Friday in their games. In the event we get another commit, they will be added to the list as well.
