Boise State roster countdown 2019: Day 2, Khalil Shakir

Well barring anything Mother Nature-lated, we have two days until kickoff. Let us hold our breaths, shall we? While we get done passing out, lets’ talk about—Khalil Shakir

#2, Khalil Shakir, Sophomore, WR

Stats

Height: 6

Weight: 186

High School: Vista Murrieta HS, Murrieta, CA

How’d he get to The BlueTM?

Mr. Shakir is considered one of the “bigger” gets that the Broncos have nabbed in the past years. For 247Sports he was rated as a four-star receiver and one of their top-300 players. So I guess he was all right.

Nickname

”Dirty Ezio”

A LOT of that nickname is based off this tweet.

Look-alike

Drew had it pretty close. Trevor Noah.

Career highlights

Mr. Shakir was quite the utility man for the Broncos last year. 14 rushes for 81 yards and a touchdown, 2-2 passing for ten yards (QB CONTROVERSY?!), 16 pass for 170 yards and one more touchdown. I wish we had some highlight clips to put here but we don’t. Yet.

2019 Prospectus

It’s almost kind of hard to say where Shakir is going to fit in in the offensive scheme. You’ve got the home-run hitter in John Hightower, the come-back guy who would probably be a no. 1 target on any other squad in Octavius Evans, and a dependable slot-receiver in CT Thomas. So about Shakir? obviously the coaching staff recognized his talent from the jump and essentially guaranteed he was going to see the field. We can fully expect more of the same this year: shoehorning Shakir in the offense because you can’t NOT have his talent on the field. While Shakir was only seventh in receiving last year for the Broncos, expect that to go up.

Is he on Twitter?

Completely made up fact

Did you know that Shaquille O’neal was named after the Shakir family? Shaq was thisclose to playing football too but decided against it.
