It’s not exactly the busy season (wabbit season) at OBNUG...but y’know, that little thing called “the countdown” starts next Thursday. Anyhoo, despite the end of the school year, there are still a few Bronco teams in action—namely the outdoor track and field team (prepping for NCAA prelims) and the women’s softball team, who earned a bid to the NCAA tournament and proved they belonged there by shellacking Stanford in Gainesville moments ago.
The Broncos propelled themselves to the lead in dramatic fashion by knocking in 5 runs in the 4th inning and never looked back as they padded their lead and only allowed one Cardinal to cross the plate to avoid the shutout.

Obviously, with that kind of lopsided win, the Bronco bats were hot and the pitching and defense was roughly the same temperature—I mean, check out this web gem by Bronco outfielder Ashlyn Adams in the 5th inning.

All told, the Broncos made the most of their opportunities as they scored 9 runs on 10 hits, while Stanford brought just one home on 6 hits. Both teams were credited with two errors...but it’s those Broncos headed to the winner’s bracket—not bad for a team that won just 14 games in 2016 and is now making their second straight regional appearance.
