Broncos gain commitment from talented JuCo defender

NCAA Football: Mountain West Championship-Hawaii at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

Boise State is getting closer to wrapping up its 2020 class, and with (early) signing day now just days away, their defense-heavy class just picked up another verbal—this time from junior college defender Shane Irwin.

Irwin, a 6’4” 250 lb. defensive end from Long Beach Community College, gained a Bronco offer on November 25th and it seemed early on the Broncos would be the team to beat for his services. That hunch was correct, as Irwin made things semi-official on his official to Boise State this weekend. Irwin had 8.5 sacks this last season at LBCC and should provide some immediate depth and minutes next fall. Irwin had fielded offers from Liberty, New Mexico, San José State, UNLV, and UTEP along with his Bronco offer and he’d previously committed to San Diego State out of Palos Verdes High School, but had to go the JuCo route. You can check out his highlight tape below—he should have two years of playing eligibility for the Broncos.
