Boise State may be in the middle of bowl prep and (early) signing day may be less than a week away, but the Bronco staff decided not to rest on their laurels and they’re making big moves with the finish line in sight. About an hour ago, Coach Harsin sounded the familiar commitment horn when he tweeted this old chestnut

Speculation was RAMPANT when Boise State director of recruiting not-so-subtly hinted that the commit was a lineman of some stripe:

This narrowed it down to only about a dozen potential targets. Thankfully, the commit quickly stepped into the light to end the mystery once and for all...and it’s a great pickup for the Broncos and an even greater name:

That would be Herbert Gums (toldja...great name), a 6’1” 284 lb. DT from Diboll High School in Diboll, TX. Believe it or not, Gums is now the highest-ranked recruit in the 2020 class based on 247’s composites and that’s saying something because this is a pretty stacked class (not AS stacked as last year, but that was historic). Gums was given an .8710 rating by 247 which is a borderline 4-star grade, but also...check out the offer list for Gums: Stephen F. Austin, Arizona, Arkansas, Houston, Iowa State, Kansas State, Louisiana, LSU, Missouri, New Mexico, and Texas Tech. Not bad at all. Of course, it’s always easier to watch some game film of the incoming verballers than try to describe their game...unless you’re visually impaired, in which case I’d love to describe it for you:

Gums is now the 13th known commit of the 2020 class and like I said, with less than a week to go until the early signing day, we’re sure to have more recruits comically rush through the Bronco door ala the Three Stooges.
