Broncos soccer take the MWC Tournament ‘ship game 2-0 against SDSU

NCAA Football: Washington State at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

After a thorough dismantling of the New Mexico Lobos on Thursday, the Broncos had a date with the San Diego State Aztecs this afternoon for the MWC tournament title.

The title game was a fitting end to a season where the Broncos and the Aztecs were neck-and-neck throughout the season. The Broncos had taken down the Aztecs back in October, 2-1.

That earlier win would prove to be crucial down the stretch as the Broncos had—unfortunately—dropped their season finale against the Utah State Aggies. Not to be outdone, though, the Aztecs also lost their final match. Both teams would end their regular season 8-3. Winning the regular season is crucial as this dictates who hosts the MWC the following year. By virtue of head-to-head, the Broncos get the tournament—again—next year.

With the the MWC title in hand, the Broncos are going dancing in the NCAA tournament, the first since their WAC days.

Congratulations to the Broncos and Coach Jim Thomas for such a fantastic season. Good luck in the tournament.

GO BRONCOS!
