Boise State roster countdown 2018: Day 5, Garrett Collingham

Boise State v Georgia

Only 5 more days until we get to watch Boise State football again. This countdown has flown by! On the docket for today is #5, Garrett Collingham.

#5, Garrett Collingham, RS Junior, TE

Stats

Height: 6’4”

Weight: 229lbs. (+25 lbs)

High School/College: Mountain View High School, Meridian, ID

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Garrett passed on a couple of FCS offers to walk on to the Broncos. We like local walk-ons! I mean we like ALL walk-ons, but we like it when local kids stick around.

Nickname

“GQ”

I liked my last nickname for him.

Look-alike

Seth Meyers

Career Highlights

Most of Garrett’s work has been on special teams, registering a solo tackle the past two seasons. Despite the light work, I think it is noteworthy that Garret has jumped around to A LOT of different positions. I believe he walked on as a QB, spent some time at WR and LB and landed at TE this spring.

2018 Prospectus

The depth chart was released a couple of weeks ago and that helped shed a bit of light on some things.

Right now, John Bates and Chase Blakley are listed as the top 2 TEs. This will be a position with quite a bit of competition. With a slough of walk-ons and newcomers Cole Ramseyer and Tyneil Hopper chomping at the bit, not to mention veteran Matt Pistone, Garrett will have his work cut out for him. But, without much proven ability after the departure of Roh and Dhaenens, now would be the best time as any for Collingham to pounce.

Garrett has jumped around to a lot of different positions for the Broncos, and while this isn’t the norm, it could play to his advantage after spending the last season on defense. The ability to think on both sides of the ball could give him an edge on offense.

Is he on Twitter?

I could not find one, unfortunately. Smart kid.

Completely TRUE fact

Garrett got the Boise skyline tattooed onto his arm. If you are in search of a favorite Bronco, you’ve found it.
