Boise State roster countdown 2018: Day 57, Emmanuel Fesili

NCAA Football: Boise State at San Diego State Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

We are closing in on the halfway point in our countdown. Checking in today at #57 is Emmanuel Fesili.

#57, Emmanuel Fesili, True Junior, NT

Stats

Height: 6’2”

Weight: 316 lbs. (+7 lbs)

High School: Polytechnic High School (Long Beach Poly), Long Beach, CA

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Hailing from southern California perennial powerhouse LBP, Fesili was HIGHLY under-recruited, in my opinion. The Broncos were his lone offer, so fortunately for the Broncos we didn’t have to fight too hard for his services.

Nickname

“The Immovable Object”

This may have already been used by someone, but it certainly applies to Fesili, coming in at 316 lbs.

Look-alike

I’m going with Drew’s choice from last year, Fijian rugby player Tavita Cavubati

Career Highlights

Last year he had 5 tackles, 3 solo, and one tackle for loss in 13 games. He split time quite a bit with Sonatane Lui.

Earned a spot on the All-CIF Southern Section Pac-5 Division Team as a senior after making 39 tackles and 8 tackles for loss.

2018 Prospectus

Nose tackle is a pretty specific position and we have 3.

Fesili should see the field plenty. I anticipate Lui will have a slight edge as a starter, but Fesili will be a close second, followed by Locher. An interesting situation, more so next year, is 3 of the 4 players at nose tackle are juniors. The lone NTs after the 2019 season (as of right now) will be Scale Igiehon Keeghan Freeborn. 2018 will be a fun season to watch the nose tackle position as all 3 have experience and all 3 can cause problems. I anticipate Igiehon and Freeborn will redshirt, but will probably get a few snaps owing to the oft-mentioned new redshirt rules.

Is he on Twitter?

He’s a family man.

Completely made up fact

Despite his size, Fesili is incredibly agile. He is a champion parkour enthusiast back in California.
