Looking smooth in a blue velvet tux, Chandler Hutchison just became the first ever first-round draft pick in Boise State history as he was drafted by the Chicago Bulls at pick number 22. You’ll no doubt remember that Hutchison withdrew from the NBA Combine after it was rumored a team had promised him a first-round pick...and that team was always rumored to be the storied Chicago Bulls. Sure enough, Chandler will join the Bulls #7 pick, Duke center Wendell Carter in the windy city as they try to restore some pride to the franchise that hasn’t won an NBA title in 20 years. Speaking of 20 year droughts, Hutch is also the first Bronco in 20 years to hear his name called in the NBA draft (the last was Roberto Bergersen in 1999).
Furthermore, the Broncos find themselves in rare air with TWO first-rounders in separate sports in the same year (Leighton Vander Esch, obviously being the other). Power programs all around!
Congratulations, Chandler—you’ve made all of Bronco Nation proud!
