Boise State got their first commit of the 2019 recruiting class today from Cherry Creek HS (Englewood, CO) athlete Alec Pell.

Listed as a 3* recruit, Alec passed on offers from CSU, Air Force, Cal, Iowa State, Wyoming, Princeton, Pennsylvania, and Columbia to name a few. To say Alec is a smart kid is an understatement. Not only did he get scholarships from Ivy League schools, he chose the Broncos over all of them!
At 6’4 and 225lbs, it looks like he was recruited to play OLB/STUD. That being said, he was also listed as a TE by 247Sports, so check that versatility box.
What I notice off the bat is his athleticism. He takes snaps from the backfield, intercepts the QB in coverage and gets a sack, all within the first minute of his highlights. Also noticing that closing speed—pretty good for a big man.
Verbal commitments are non-binding until December...but remember when it used to be February. We truly live in the age of enlightenment. Join me in welcoming Alec to Bronco Nation!
