The Ram tears flow freely in Fort Collins as Boise State routs CSU

NCAA Basketball: Nevada at Boise State Brian Losness-USA TODAY Sports

FINAL BSU 87 CSU 54

A stark contrast to previous meetings in Fort Collins, the game tonight was a veritable blood-bath. I felt like the Broncos, who were coming off a win at home against Air Force, were still feeling a bit angsty about the losses to Nevada and Utah State, so they decided to take it out on the hapless Rams.

The Broncos game out swinging early and often, building a 50-29 halftime lead, led by Hutchison’s 18 points. While CSU had a small early lead, that lasted roughly 4:30 until the Broncos took the lead 6 minutes in and never looked back. Honestly, it was a full team effort too as just about everyone got involved in the scoring.

To give you an idea of the kind of night the Rams had (if you haven’t already surmised that), with 8 minutes left to go in the second half, the Rams had 6 points in the 2nd. SIX. Yup, THAT bad. Jessup also found his 3-point shot as well, much to the Ram’s chagrin.

With 5 minutes left, the Broncos take a 40-point lead, 81-41, over the Rams. The Broncos emptied the bench at this point, getting Harwell, Criston and Wacker some much needed playing time.

Boise State finished 30-65 (46.2%) and 9-30 (30%) from 3. The Rams, on the other hand, were 15-53 (28.3%) and 4-17 (23.5%) from 3. Not great. Boise State also had a 51-31 rebound advantage as well as a 25-3 second-chance points edge. Hutch finished with 27 points and 4 rebounds. Jessup, who shot 57% from 3, finished with 16 points. Sengfelder finished with 7 points and 11 rebounds. NExt up for the Broncos is a trip to SDSU on Tuesday the 27th. GO BRONCOS!
