This will be my last countdown article for the year folks. It’s been a pleasure per usual. Let’s get up to speed on #3 Montell Cozart.

Career highlights

As a junior at Kansas, he completed 112 of 191 passes for 1,075 yards for 7 TDs and 9 INTs. He also had 24 rushes for 91 yards. He completed 265 passes out of 487 for 2,755 yards, 14 TDs and 19 INTs in his career at Kansas.

As a senior at Bishop Miege, he threw for 2,759 yards and 25 TDs on his way to first-team all-state honors. He also added 626 yards and 5 TDs on the ground.

2017 prospectus

While his stats at Kansas might not be eye-popping, you do have to remember it’s Kansas. I think what will play to his advantage is he has played some very good teams and players which will have him well prepared to face the foes of the Mountain West.

Cozart will back up Brett Rypien this season. We will most likely see him in plenty of run option packages. While he had 19 interceptions at Kansas, you can see from his highlights he has a nice touch and a solid arm.

I anticipate that Cozart will see the field plenty and he will make great use of his time. While he’ll only be here a year, he’ll make his mark.

Is he on Twitter?

He is, and he’s a Leo like most of us at OBNUG!

Completely made up fact

While Kansas is nearly as flat as a state can get, Cozart’s favorite hobby was rock climbing. To satisfy need to climb, he climbed the buildings in Lawrence at night, sparking rumors that Spiderman was real.
