The 50’s have begun! Nearly halfway there guys. Up today is #59, Mason Hampton.

#59, Mason Hampton, RS Senior, OL

Stats

Height: 6’3”

Weight: 303 lbs. (+10lbs)

High School: Meridian High School, Meridian, ID

How’d he get to The Blue™?

Mason took the Paradis route, except for the whole 8-man thing. He walked on to the team after playing at Meridian High. He earned himself a scholarship after his redshirt freshman season and looks poised to go out with a bang.

Nickname

“Mace”

That’s his nickname, no if, ands or buts.

Look-alike

James Corden

Career highlights

Mason has quite a few. All-Mountain West Honorable Mention, CoSIDA Academic All-America First Team, CoSIDA Academic All-District 7 Team, 3-time Mountain West All-Academic Team and 2-time Mountain West Scholar-Athlete Award. He was a Joe Moore semi-finalist last year, which goes to the best lineman. He;s also on the Rimington Watchlist for this season. I guess you could say he’s kind of a big deal.

2017 Prospectus

Mason Hampton is in prime position right now. Starting center is his job to lose at this point. Based on how he plays, he could push for first or second team all-Mountain West by the end of the year.

As I’ve stated before, I’m pretty terrible at guessing who might play where on the OL. Once they are in the position, I am good. But coming in, I couldn’t tell you where someone might play unless it’s explicitly stated. Mason will have whoever replaces him prepared before the season ends, that’s for sure.

Is he on Twitter?

He is, and he has exceptional taste in music.

Completely made up fact

Mason’s favorite sandwich is a Monte Cristo, except instead of ham, he throws in some pulled pork, burnt ends and swiss, fried, then dipped in hickory bbq sauce. Sooo good...
