It is getting hotter folks. We are about to hit a stretch where triple digits are the norm. And I don’t much care for that. But do you know what I do care for? Football. And Football-related things. As such with only 54 days until Boise State football returns to us, today we have—Matt Locher
#54, Matt Locher, RS Sophomore, NT
Stats:
Height: 6’ 2”
Weight: 268
High School: Los Alamitos HS, Los Alamitos, CA
How'd he get to the Blue™?
By passing up a whole host of offers. The consensus three-star recruit (per Rivals, Scout, and 247Sports) had many schools that wanted his services: Air Force, Fresno State, and Navy on the FBS level. Along with interest from California, BYU, and Colorado. And know who else offered Mr. Locher? Harvard and Yale. It’s almost as if Boise State knows something Ivy League schools know.

Career Highlights
His Broncos highlights are still a little thin only having appeared in two games last year. But, in high school, his accomplishments were impressive: Orange County Register Defensive Player of the Year, All-CIF Southern Section Team, Sunset League co-MVP, All-Sunset League First Team and Max-Preps All-state first team. And he’s nailed straight As as a Boise State student. That’s impressive.
2017 Prospectus
The defensive line, last year, saw David Moa breakout in the NT position. As Drew mentioned yesterday, out of necessity. So what about this year? According to the Boise State roster, David Moa is still listed as a NT. If we hold that to be true, Locher may be limited to what starts/plays he gets. With the defensive line adding some important redshirt bodies, this could be a very crowded defensive line corp heading into the season. While we may see a heavier dose of Locher (certainly more than the two games from last year) Sonatane Lui and Emmanuel Fesili will be chomping at the bit to get their playtime as well. The competition should be fierce, and fun to see who comes out of fall camp as the leader, but Mr. Locher may not be as prevalent.
Is he on Twitter?
He sure does. And you can follow him at @MattLocher42. But it does not appear that tweeting is his thing so he doesn’t do it very often. Toss him a follow if you like, but do not expect a whole lot.
Completely made up fact
The Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG) Eve Online once held a space battle that lasted five hours and had over 4,000 people involved. Matt Locher represented 1,000 of them.
