Boise State student-athletes continue to be both student AND athlete, which is quite a task considering I have to turn down the car radio whenever I’m looking for a house number. This past semester, the Broncos men’s and women’s golf teams, swimming and diving team, and women’s tennis teams received Public Recognition Awards from the NCAA for their multi-year APR scores (Academic Progress Rates) that were in the top 10 percent of their respective sports nationally. Boise State's four awards were second only to Fresno State (5) in the conference. I know, I know...not Ivy League Nevada? Were we lied to by erstwhile coach Brian Polian?
The women’s golf team has received the Public Recognition Award in each of the last four years, and women’s tennis has earned the honors in each of the last three. May 10th, the NCAA will release their full APR reports for all 2015-2016 teams and the Broncos may find themselves basking in more academic glory. Until then, let’s applaud these brainy and hard-working Broncos.
