The wait was a tad longer than a lot of Bronco Nation was expecting. And after a few other picks. Donnell Pumphrey at 132 to the Eagles and Brian Hill at 156 in Atlanta. Heck. Hill joins Damontae Kazee at the Falcons.
There are a lot of positives to the situation that Mr. McNichols is getting himself into. He joins former Boise State running back, Doug Martin, in the backfield. And he also gets the tutelage of former Boise State Head Coach Dirk Koetter. While Mr. Martin has had a couple of struggles lately, this could work out to both of their benefit. McNichols has the opportunity to learn from a great back while not having all the pressure of starting right away. And, when Martin needs to sit a spell, McNichols can take over. (Yes, I realize that Martin will still have to sit out a few games at the beginning of the year due to his suspension but, regardless, this may give McNichols an opportunity to get some early game experience.)
And this also makes the state of Florida the official sanctuary of former Boise State running backs with Jay Ajayi seemingly standing pat in Miami.
So congratulations Jeremy McNichols. And best of luck!
