Basketball GameThread: Sacramento State at Boise State

The Boise State football team isn't the only Bronco squad to be rolling. The men's hoops team is 8-1 and a quality win or two away from a potential top-25 ranking and the women's hoops team just downed Washington by 20 points. Oh, and the Loyola team that the Broncos dispatched by 34 on November 28th took down #5 Florida. Everything is coming up blue and orange, so it'd be nice to keep that Bronco momentum rolling through the bowl game next Saturday. The basketball team can do just that as they take on Sacramento State this afternoon at the Taco Ballerina ("The Taco").

Sacramento State, at 2-7, isn't much of a threat to end the Bronco hot streak, but I suppose stranger things have happened (in Stranger Things, for example). For the record, with a win the Broncos will be officially off to their 10-game start since the '88-'89 season and seeing as they'll carry a 22-game non-conference home win streak into today's contest...chances are they'll get it.

The Broncos currently have 4 players averaging double-digit points per game—Justinian Jessup (15.0), Chandler Hutchison (13.1), Alex Hobbs (12.0), and Christian Sengfelder (11.6). Hutchison is inching up on averaging a double-double. The Broncos are also red-hot from 3-point range this season, having already hit 107 treys (7th in the NCAA) and hold a distinct rebounding edge on their opponents with a +10.1 average on the boards throughout the year.

To slow down Sac State, they'll need to stick a fork in Justin Strings, who leads the Hornets in points and rebounds (16.4 and 7.6, respectively). You can watch the Broncos attempt to do just that through a live stream of the game—found [HERE] OR you could tune your ears to 670 KBOI and listen to Bob Behler and Abe Jackson call the action. Either way is fine by me. Not much else to say on this one but...
