First Half
Despite not-so-great shooting, mostly from 3 (0-8), Haney had a monster half (15 points). The Broncos closed out the half shooting 12-29 (41%) and luckily were only down 30-34. Certainly looked like the Broncos had plenty of time to turn things around. They also shot 6-8 from the free throw line. Chandler Hutchison had just 4 points before halftime, but chipped in 6 rebounds...a stat the Broncos did well in all night.
Pritchard lead the way for the Ducks with 12 points (4-9). The Ducks shot 48% from the field (14-29), 27% (3-11) from 3 and 100% (3-3) from the charity stripe.
Second Half
The Broncos opened the second half with the first points, but Oregon responded with some points of their own, namely a resounding dunk. BSU responded by breaking their 3-point silence with back-to-back 3’s from Hutch and Jessup. With 10 minutes left, BSU was within 6 at 48-54.
Unfortunately, the Broncos went on a dry spell for 6 minutes, but Oregon didn’t score much themselves, and the Broncos continued to make their free throws. Hutch ended the drought with a layup with 6:54 to go.
Hutch came alive in the second half, finishing with 20 points and 10 boards. Haney had 17 points and 7 rebounds. Jessup finished with 15, all from beyond the arc. The Broncos finished 24-55 (44%) from the floor and 7-19 (37%) from the 3-point line (a modest improvement from the 0% they shot in the first half). BSU completed 72% of it’s free throws. The Ducks were also 44% from the field and 26% from 3. They made all 10 of their free throws. The Broncos out rebounded the Ducks 33-30.
What an insane game. There were 15 lead changes, and most of them in the second half. The Broncos were hot, then cold, then hot, then cold, then an inferno. Insane road win for the Broncos!. The Broncos have a quick turnaround with 3-4 Portland visiting on Sunday. GO BRONCOS!
