We have the curious case of two games against the same opponent back-to-back. For intents and purposes round one doesn’t offer too much in terms impact on much. If Boise State were to win both, the Broncos aren’t getting much better than the Vegas Bowl (because, let’s face it, a whole LOT would have to happen to get an NY6 at this point). So aside from pride, bragging rights, and momentum going into the title tilt on December 2nd, not much is on the line for this one. But we do have internet bragging rights available. So there is that.
- Alexander Mattison rush yards
- Leighton Vander Esch tackles
- Hayden Hogarth PATs
What do I get if I win?
Just the aforementioned bragging rights.
What about the Air Force predict the score?
This was actually a pretty close one. HSridge had 44-17 Broncos. TitoRay had 44-21 Broncos. Both within two of the Falcons’ score. My gut inclination, like the Price is Right, is to go with the closest score without going over. HOWEVER that was not one of the rules/tiebreakers from the start of the year and it wouldn’t be fair to do that now (though if I remember to do that next year, I am going to make that a rule).
So I’m going to the tiebreakers. Luckily, both Nuggies put forth their predictions. And, wow, this was tough. Jake Roh catches: one. HSridge guess: six, TitoRay guess: four. That tiebreaker goes to TitoRay. Gabe Perez tackles: four. HSridge guess: three, TitoRay guess: two. For those still reading, that’s one tiebreaker apiece. Brock Barr long snaps: my count was 10 (one punt, four fieldgoals, five PATs). So unless someone wants to rewatch every one of those possessions, that’s the number I am going with. Also, after re-reading my tiebreakers, I should have clarified a bit more that he was the longsnapper. Sorry about that you two. But, for the sake of this, TitoRay nabbed the final tiebreaker with two Barr snaps. HSridge guess: one. Tito Ray guess: two. Kudos TitoRay and welcome to your internet glory!!
