Final Boise State 64 Iowa State 75
It was a tale of two halves, that is for sure.
The Broncos were down 21-39 at half time after shooting just 27.6% from the field, including 14.3% from the 3-pt line. On top of not-so-great shooting, Hutchison hit his head, returning at half-time in sweats. Sengfelder lead the Broncos in points at the half with just 6.
Despite being down by as much as 24 points to the Cyclones, the Broncos battled back, lead by Williams and Sengfelder and a much improved FG% of 51.5% and a 56.3% from beyond the arc. Sengfelder lead all Broncos with 20 points, and Jessup rebounded 13 times. Williams contributed 16 points himself.
The Broncos did not have an answer for Donovan Jackson, unfortunately, who had 26 himself. The Cyclones shot 47.6% from the field, but just 27.8% from 3. The Broncos finished with 40.3% from the field and 36.7% from 3. A big difference was the Cyclones were 10-13 from the free throw line and out rebounded the Broncos 41-33. The Broncos were 3-6 from the free throw line.
It was a valiant effort from the Broncos in the second half. Missing Hutchison made a difference for sure, but it was nice to see some fight from the Broncos.
Boise State gets Loyola at home this Saturday, looking to improve to 5-1.
