Is everyone else as relieved as I am after this weekend? Not only did we beat Air Force FINALLY, but we are the Mountain Division Champions! I expect the Broncos to come out swinging against the Bulldogs, but I could see them playing fairly vanilla, maybe throwing in a few wrinkles just to keep them guessing for Dec. 2nd. Who knows?
Let’s check in on the future Broncos.
Andrew VanBuren, RB, Caminade HS (West Hills, CA)
Andrew earned Mission League Offensive Player of the Year honors after running for 1,259 yards on 224 carries for 22 total TDs. That’s good for 5.6 yards per carry. His final stat line in the loss to Orange Lutheran was 15 carries for 40 yards. A final highlight video for AVB has not been posted yet.
Scale Igiehon, DT, Del Valle HS (Del Valle, TX)
Final season stats for Scale have not yet been updated, but highlights from last week’s game against Anderson have been posted.
Kukea Emmsley, DE, Kapolei HS (Kapolei, HI)
Kapolei finished the season 5-6, 2-5 in league play. Final stats for Kukea have not yet been compiled.
Brandon Hawkins, LB, Georgetown HS (Georgetown, TX)
The Eagles took down Huntsville 29-7 on Friday, moving to 9-2 on the year and the next round of the playoffs. Stats for Brandon were not available in the win.
Georgetown will take on College Station this Saturday, 11/25 at 2pm.
Zidane Thomas, RB, Centennial HS (Peoria, AZ)
Centennial beat Liberty 42-37 in the semifinals of the AIA Conference 5A playoffs to move on to the finals. The win was fueled by a 28-point first quarter explosion. Thomas ran for 270 yards and 3 TDs in the win. There were some highlights from the win as well.
Centennial takes on Notre Dame Prep on Saturday, 12/2 at 330pm for the championship.
DJ Schramm, LB, Clovis West HS (Fresno, CA)
Clovis West dismantled Clovis 42-17 on Friday, moving onto the semifinals and improving to 9-2. While stats weren’t available for DJ in the win, he did have a fumble return for a TD. NICE.
The Golden Eagles take on Buchanan on Friday, 11/24 at 7pm in the semifinals. They beat Buchanan earlier this year 36-17.
Philip Mills, LB, Paloma Valley HS (Menifee, CA)
Paloma Valley improved to 10-2 after a 56-21 win over Yucaipa on Friday, moving on to the semifinals. Phillip had 8 total tackles, 1.5 sacks and a hurry in the win. That brings his senior totals to 82 total tackles, 52 solo, 2.5 sacks, 10 TFL, 1 int and 1 fumble recovery.
Paloma Valley will take on Paraclete in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs on 11/24 at 7pm.
Zachary Wilson, QB, Corner Canyon HS (Draper, UT)
Zach finished the season 170 for 294 (57.8%) for 2,971 yards, 24 TDs and 8 interceptions AND 119 rushes for 750 yards (6.3 ypc) and another 8 TDs.
He was in town, again, to watch to Broncos beat Air Force.
Keeghan Freeborn, DT, Rocky Mountain HS (Meridian, ID)
No stats were kept for Keeghan as he played offensive line for the Grizzlies. He will most likely play on the defensive line for the Broncos.
Kekaniokoa Gonzalez, C, Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, CA)
Mater Dei wrecked Long Beach Poly 55-13. LBP is no slouch either, so that is a pretty serious drubbing. The win keeps the Monarchs at a perfect 12-0 and moves them on to the semifinals against Mission Viejo. Stats weren’t kept for Koa as he plays on the O-line.
Mater Dei takes on Mission Viejo on Friday, 11/24 at 730pm in the semifinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs.
Cole Ramseyer, TE, Coeur d’Alene HS (Coeur d’Alene, ID)
CDA lost to Highland in the championship game 14-8. They finished 9-3 on the season. Stats have not yet been updated for Cole in the loss or the season.
Demitri Washington, STUD, Santa Fe Christian Schools (Solana Beach, CA)
SFCHS handled La Jolla 63-14, moving to 7-4 and onto the semifinals against San Pasqual. Washington has not played since 9/30 after tearing his labrum.
SFCHS takes on San Pasqual in the semifinals this Friday, 11/24 at 7pm.
John Hightower, WR, Hinds C.C. (Raymond, MS)
Hinds CC lost to Northwest CC 13-27 in the MACJC semifinals, ending their season. John had 1 reception for 46 yards in the loss. John had 13 receptions for 234 yards and 4 TDs for the season.
Stefan Cobbs, WR, Fossil Ridge HS (Keller, TX)

Billy Bowens, WR, Redlands East Valley (Redlands, CA)
Bill finished his season with 41 receptions for 896 yards (21.9 ypc) and 10 TDs. He had 1,255 all-purpose yards for the season.
A lot of future Broncos still in the playoff hunt, while a few more saw their seasons end. After this weekend’s big win with a few big names in attendance, we MIGHT see some more commits soon. Stay tuned! Go Broncos!
