28-3. That is all

Playoff action happening right now for high schools and unfortunately, some of our future Broncos saw their championship hopes dashed this weekend.

Let’s check in on the future Broncos.

Andrew VanBuren, RB, Caminade HS (West Hills, CA)

Chaminade was shocked 28-25 by Orange Lutheran, ending their playoff run. They finished 9-2 for the season. Andrew earned Mission League Offensive Player of the Year honors. Offensive stats weren’t available in the loss. Final stats for Andrew have not yet been compiled.

Scale Igiehon, DT, Del Valle HS (Del Valle, TX)

Del Valle finished their season with a 42-17 win against Anderson on Friday, finishing the season 5-5 and out of playoff contention. No stats for Scale were available and no further updates to his stats from last week.

Kukea Emmsley, DE, Kapolei HS (Kapolei, HI)

Kapolei finished the season 5-6, 2-5 in league play. Final stats for Kukea have not yet been compiled.

Brandon Hawkins, LB, Georgetown HS (Georgetown, TX)

The Eagles dispatched PCHS 51-14 on Friday, improving to 8-2 and securing a spot in UIL 5A D2 Playoffs. Stats for Brandon weren’t updated after the game. They takes on Huntsville Friday, 11/17 at 730pm.

Zidane Thomas, RB, Centennial HS (Peoria, AZ)

Centennial beat Chaparral 34-27 in the quarterfinals of the AIA Conference 5A playoffs to move on to the semifinals. The win was fueled by a 28-point first quarter explosion. Thomas accounted for 22 carries for 93 yards and 3 TDs in the win. There were some highlights from the win as well.

Centennial takes on Liberty on Friday, 11/17 at 7pm in the playoffs.

DJ Schramm, LB, Clovis West HS (Fresno, CA)

Clovis West more or less had a bye this week, awaiting to see who their opponent was for their first playoff game. Lo and behold, they play Clovis, who they just defeated 45-21 on 11/3, their last game.

The Golden Eagles take on Clovis on Friday, 11/27 at 7pm.

Philip Mills, LB, Paloma Valley HS (Menifee, CA)

Paloma Valley won their playoff game against San Jacinto 49-8, moving on to the next round. Phillip had 5 total tackles and 3 hurries in the win.

Paloma Valley will take on Yucaipa in the quarterfinals of the CIF Southern Section playoffs on 11/17 at 730pm.

Zachary Wilson, QB, Corner Canyon HS (Draper, UT)

Corner Canyon lost a heartbreaker to Skyridge, 33-34, ending their playoff hopes. Zach was pretty beaten up throughout the game, but still completed 18 of 34 passes for 336 yards, 2TD and one interception. He also had 21 rushes for 66 yards and another TD. Skyridge had one of the best defenses in the league going into the game.

Zach finished the season 170 for 294 (57.8%) for 2,971 yards, 24 TDs and 8 interceptions AND 119 rushes for 750 yards (6.3 ypc) and another 8 TDs.

Keeghan Freeborn, DT, Rocky Mountain HS (Meridian, ID)

Rocky Mountain lost to Highland 26-3, ending their playoff run. They finished 9-3. No stats were kept for Keeghan as he played offensive line for the Grizzlies. He will most likely play on the defensive line for the Broncos.

Kekaniokoa Gonzalez, C, Mater Dei HS (Santa Ana, CA)

Mater Dei easily dispatched Vista Murrieta 49-7 on Friday, moving on to the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Koa had not stats as he plays on the offensive line. Their next opponent is DeAndre Pierce and Emmanuel Fesili’s old squad, and is lead by DeAndre’s dad and NL veteran Antonio Pierce.

Fossil Ridge edged Keller 41-40 on Friday to remain a perfect 10-0 and move on to the next round of the playoffs. Cobs had 7 receptions for 100 yards and 2 TDs in the win. That puts Cobbs at 62 receptions for 1,276 yards (20.6 ypc) and 24 TDs.

Fossil Ridge takes on Arlington on Friday, 11/17 at 730pm.

Billy Bowens, WR, Redlands East Valley (Redlands, CA)

REVHS ended their playoff run, losing 26-43 to Cathedral, ending at 6-5 for the season. Stats have not yet been updated for Billy, but I will update them when they are.

Many future Broncos saw their seasons come to an end. The coming weeks will hopefully provide year end stats and highlight videos for those that are done. A few still have their playoff hopes intact, most notably Cole Ramseyer who plays for the 5A Idaho State Championship this Friday. Go Broncos!
