NCAA Football: Boise State at Oregon State Cole Elsasser-USA TODAY Sports

Back-to-back wins over Pac12 teams, eh? Not too shabby if you ask me. The Broncos start conference play this weekend with Utah State visiting. They open as a 19.5 point favorite over the Aggies, which, to me, seems a tad high. We had a few injuries against the Beavers that I hope don’t hamper us too much.

Let’s check in on the future Broncos, shall we?

Jermani Brown, ATH, Midlothian HS (Midlothian, VA)

The Trojans notched their first win last week after a 36-6 win over Wythe. They move to 1-4 on the year. Even the local newspaper was sans stats, so stats were nowhere to be found. Midlothian travels to Huguenot on Friday looking for another win.

Marques Evans, DB, Newbury Park HS (Newbury Park, CA)

Newbury Park blanked Venice on Friday 28-0. They move to 4-1 on the season. The secondary allowed just 10 completions for 53 yards in the win. While I couldn’t find individual stats, he did have a short highlight video from the game

NPHS gets Gardena at home this Friday.

Zeke Birch, DT, Madison HS (Rexburg, ID)

Madison won a close one against Hillcrest on Friday 29-21. They remain 5-0 on the year and 1-0 in conference play. Hillcrest had taken a 21-0 lead early in the game and held a 21-8 lead at halftime. Madison finished strong with another 21 unanswered points. Stats for Zeke couldn’t be found. The Bobcats look to remain perfect against visiting Rigby this Friday.

Aisa Kelemete, DE, Highland HS (Pocatello, ID)

Highland throttled Pocatello on Friday 42-12, improving to 2-3. Kelemete’s return as fueled a turn-around for the Rams. Again, stats for Aisa were not available. The Rams travel to Bonneville this Friday.

Isiah Moore, OT, Mesa CC (Mesa, AZ)

Mesa handles Glendale CC soundly on Saturday 42-7, improving to 3-1. Individual stats for offensive lineman usually aren’t kept. The OL did only allow one sack for zero yards. Mesa QB Ricedorff had a solid night, going 28-38 for 449 yards and 5 TDs. Mesa gets Scottsdale CC at home this Saturday.

Breydon Boyd, LB, Katy HS (Katy, TX)

Katy blanked Katy Taylor 48-0, improving to 3-2, 2-0 in districts. I thought I had finally found a game where they kept the stats, but as I scrolled, I discovered that they only had the offensive stats. No defense. PERFECT! No stats for Breydon, but I’ll keep searching. Oh and the Katy Times requires a login. Dang! Seven Lakes visits Katy this Friday.

Michael Young, DB, Dodge City CC (Dodge City, KS)

Dodge City won a low scoring contest against Butler CC 7-3 after being down 3-0 at half. They move to 4-1 on the year and are on a 4-game win streak. Michael had 1 solo tackle and one pass break-up in the win. DCCC travels to Independence on Saturday hoping to keep their win streak alive.

Chase Cord, QB, Sunrise Mountain HS (Peoria, AZ)

Sunrise Mountain suffered their first loss of the season against #1 Saguaro 34-6 on Friday, moving to 4-1. Chase had a rough night, completing just 3-9 passes for 31 yards and an interception at halftime. He finished 7 of 19 for 67 yards and an INT. SMHS looks ahead to Moon Valley on Friday.

Mike Young, OT, Queen Creek HS (Queen Creek, AZ)

The Bulldogs beat Ironwood Ridge 37-12, improving to 5-1. Mike had 5 tackles, 2 solo and a tackle for loss in the win. Queen Creek looks to continue winning when they travel to Mesquite this Friday.

That’s all for this week. I’m hoping we can start getting some more stats sooner rather than later. I’ll provide what I can! Looking forward to an awesome season for our Broncos as well as our 2017 commits! GO BRONCOS!
