2016 fall scrimmage scrapped in favor of fan fest

NCAA Football: Poinsettia Bowl- Boise State vs Northern Illinois Jake Roth-USA TODAY Sports

When I was 8 years old, I went to a Blue Angels exhibition at Gowen Field. While there, my father spotted journeyman NFL QB and BSU coach Jim Zorn and had me go and get his autograph. It was a pivotal moment in my life and led me down the path of writing a Blue Angels blog...a blog that was quickly scrapped for the more Boise State-centric fare you now know. Well, Bronco fans are about to have the same life-changing opportunity on August 27th, when the Fall Fan Fest takes place at Albertsons Stadium.

In lieu of the same old hum-drum fall scrimmage, Boise State is inviting fans to an open practice and autograph session on The Blue™ a week before the season opener in Louisiana. It’ll be a Bronco fans real-life version of Pokemon Go...where the Pokemon are autographs and you’re still a little old for this. Remember, the more kids you have the more autographs you can acquire, so bring your neighbor’s kid too!

In addition to the open practice and autographs, fans will receive a 2016 schedule poster...a tableau for your signatures, perhaps. Darren Lee will sign his signature right over BYU’s logo, I bet! The event is free, parking is free, so there go all your excuses.

The event is scheduled to run from 12–3pm. Gates A, D and P will open at noon, with the team taking the field at 12:15 p.m. Fans will be allowed onto the field immediately following the roughly 75-minute practice for photos and autographs with coaches, players, the spirit squad and Buster Bronco. Buster cannot hold a pen in his hoof, so give him a carrot instead of asking for an autograph (sorry, thems the rules).
