Earlier today we learned that the Boise State women’s cross country team has some solid runners. Well, come to find out, the Broncos even have a couple of top 25 cross country teams ready to get these year started.
The @USTFCCCA put out their preseason rankings today! Good news for both our teams.

The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) put out their yearly preseason rankings. The women’s rankings see two Mountain West Conference teams in the top 10. No. 1 New Mexico, no. 3 Providence, and no. 6 Boise State are the only teams outside of the Power 5 represented in the top 10. Colorado, Oregon, NC State round out the rest of the top five.
The Broncos’ women’s team should be formidable with two of the top six runners in the country. This comes off a solid 11th place finish in the NCAA national championships from last season.
The men’s team, who finished 16th in the NCAA national championships, also comes into the preseason ranked no. 16.
Both teams are going into their respective seasons with the highest preseason rankings in Boise State history. Coach Corey Ihmels has been working wonders for the Broncos going into his fourth year as the head coach. Could be interesting to see what happens when his run (no pun intended) at Boise State comes to a close.
Seeing the Broncos on this upward trend is a great sign that the other sports are thriving under the right leadership.
