So he’s not ACTUALLY #18, but that’s what day we’re on day 18 and we already have someone scheduled for day #10. But who doesn’t want to know about true freshman Kekoa Nawahine? Opposing offenses, that’s who.
#18, Kekoa Nawahine, True Freshman, S
Height: 6’ 2”
Weight: 195 lbs
High School: Rocky Mountain High School, Meridian, ID
How'd he get to the Blue™?
Patience. Two years of patience. But before that, he destroyed teams at Rocky Mountain. Listed as a 3-star recruit and the #4 prospect in Idaho for the 2014 class, I’m not seeing other offers outside of Boise State, but we like to keep local kids here anyway, especially the caliber of Kekoa.
Literally. No seriously, that’s what his name means.
A young Michael Deluise (thanks Drew)
He has yet to play a down for the Broncos, but he was named to the Idaho Statesman All-Idaho First Team Offense, Second Team Defense and first-team All-Southern Idaho Conference on both offense and defense. He caught 50 passes for 953 yards as a senior. Tried to find his defensive stats, but they weren’t listed on MaxPreps. #sadface
It could be an interesting season for Kekoa. While he is a true freshman, our depth at safety could be a little deeper. I don’t think we’re in trouble by any means, but a little more depth never hurt anyone.

The current safety depth is above. So Chance James and DSG look to be our starters with Evan Tyler and Cam Hartsfield backing them up. That leaves Damion Wright, Jordan Happle and Kekoa as your scholarship safeties. They are swapping out the nickel for a third linebacker and Kam Miles looks to be moving there.
I am all for retaining Kekoa’s red shirt, but if we need to use him and he is the next player up, I wouldn’t complain.
Is he on Twitter?
He is ready...
Completely made up fact
While everyone seems to be collecting “Jordans”, Kekoa has 367 pairs of Doc Martens.
