We're officially halfway through the countdown! With just 50 days remaining until kickoff, today we'll look at #50 on the Boise State roster—Nicholai Pitman

#50, Nicholai Pitman, Freshman, LS

Stats

Height: 5'11"

Weight: 233 lbs.

High School: Timberline High School, Boise, ID

How'd he get to The BlueTM?

Little is known about the enigmatic Pitman, but I can say with near-certainty that he is a walk-on—and a local one. As far as individual accolades go, Pitman has few listed, but he did help his Timberline squad to the 5A State Playoffs as a junior and senior and also competed in both shot put and discus for the Timberline track team. Pitman was on the SIC Academic honors list as a senior.

Nickname

"Pit"

It's good enough for his Dad. YES, Nicholai...IS in fact the son of Bronco S&C Coach Jeff Pitman.

Look-alike

Jeff Pitman

A google image search for "Nicholai Pitman" returns zero results for anyone that I assume is actually Nicholai Pitman. However, it does return a result for Jeff Pitman, and as they are somewhat closely related, I'll assume this will do.

Career Highlights

He's currently on the Boise State football roster.

2016 Prospectus

What do you want me to say here? I found out about the existence of Nicholai Pitman a few weeks ago when I was scheduling the countdown in Excel. After a little digging, my suspicions that he was Jeff Pitman's son were confirmed. So, whether Pitman would be here without his strong and conditioned father is doubtful, but that doesn't mean he can't contribute if he works hard (I don't think nepotism works if you're not the head coaches' son). Currently, there are two long-snappers listed on the roster—Matt Cota, and Pitman, so while I have no idea what the latter is capable of, he might be one snapping injury (snicker) away from playing time. OR, the Broncos could just give a backup linebacker a crash course in long snapping and throw them out there—remember Dallas Dobbs, y'all? Of course, Cota, the presumed starter, is a junior and Pitman just a frosh, so he'll have plenty of time to earn his spot and snap away in the future. He's already got 40 lbs on the upperclassman, so that's something.

Is he on Twitter?

I think so (how many Nicholai Pitmans can there be?), but his account is protected. If you want to check my work, you can go here

Completely made up fact

Pitman is named after his father's favorite WWF supervillain Nikolai Volkoff.
