Wouldn’t you know it? It is hump day! The middle of the week! With the fourth of July coming up, we also have 66 days for Boise State to get playing (in the words of Melvin Marsh) foot-ball. So let us talk about Mario Yakoo.

Stats:
Height: 6’ 4”
Weight: 320 lbs
High School: Steele Canyon High School, San Diego, California
How'd he get to the Blue™?
By a twist of fortune and fate. Mr. Yakoo was initially committed to UCLA while in high school and, by all accounts, was all set to matriculate there. But there were some issues and that fell through. Luckily, the Broncos needed (needs?) a dude with the ability to produce epic beards. So the Broncos gave him an offer he could not refuse. Mr. Yakoo also had offers from Air Force, Arizona, Eastern Washington, Oregon State, and San Diego State. He was a 2-star recruit to Rivals and Scout and 3-star for 247Sports. Mr. Yakoo is a 5-star in our hearts.
Nickname
“The Griller”
Cause he’s going to be making pancakes.
Look-a-like
This dude?

Career Highlights
Ah the offensive line. Unless the play involved a really awesome block, or a brutal missed assignment, we do not hear a whole lot of their names called. But they sure do get the ball rolling on every offensive play. So this is where Mr. Yakoo comes in. He started 12 games last year that saw the offense be tops in the Mountain West. He had also started all 14 games his RS Sophomore year. So the guy has experience. In that time he has also an Academic All-Mountain West three times and an All-Mountain West Honorable Mention for last year’s performance. Great for Mr. Yakoo.
2016 Prospectus
Mr. Yakoo is part of that offensive line “with potential” you have seen me talk about. In Mr. Yakoo’s case it will be a continuation of a maturation process and building off a successful year.
Because we already know that he is starting, it kind of takes the “excitement” out of this. So let us talk about who could back him up. Out on the edge versus a defensive end can be stressful and a lot of pressure goes into that. Dan Urquhart comes to mind for a tall guy with some experience as a tackle. Will Adams at 6’ 7” sure seems like a guy who could be a right tackle. Or perhaps Garrett Larson? Let us not forget about 6’ 5” John Molchon. There is a bevy of talent that could fill the quite large shoes of Yakoo. And your guess is as good as mine.
Is he on Twitter?
You betcha. And he loves to take hikes.
Another good Saturday morning hike with my brothas! ⛰ #Have2ClimbTheMtn2WinTheMtn pic.twitter.com/RMSzX0t2TG

Completely made up fact
Mr. Yakoo enjoys the Reese’s Nutrageous bar. In fact, he will often buy five at a time and mimic the Captain Planet and the Planeteers by smashing them together. “AND WITH YOUR POWERS COMBINED!!!!”
