Oh man. I am much excite. It is now MY turn to bring you all what you have been wanting: another tick in this clock we call the OBNUG countdown. Quite a thing to behold to know exactly how many days we have until we get to see the Boise State Broncos take to the field. Both a beacon of hope but also (for now) a constant reminder of exactly how much longer we have to wait.
But enough jibber-jabber let us get on with it, shall we? With 98 days to go we shall talk about--Sonatane Lui

How'd he get to the Blue™?
Mr. Sonatane Lui kind of just "showed up" on the Broncos' roster a couple of months ago. Probably by osmosis. His addition to the roster was done with little (read: no) fanfare. While his addition was quiet, his impact on the field in high school was not. He managed to put up some decent numbers with 55 tackles (24 solo), and 3.5 sacks for his senior year in Alta High School. In high school he played nose guard and the Broncos have Mr. Lui listed as DL. I assume it is short for "Domination Lui."
Unfortunately for Mr. Lui (or intrepid countdown writers), not much has been recorded for his recruitment stats. I could not find any offer sheets, nor much of a profile on the usual scouting services. Mr. Lui did, however, serve a mission after completing high school as he graduated in 2013 and is a "freshman" this year. It is possible that the mission scared some schools off. But the Broncos are used to such arrangements so he probably found a good fit. Mr. Lui went to the same high school as current Boise State grappler Carson Kuhn. Alta appears to treat all of the Broncos' sports teams pretty well.
Check out Mr. Lui's highlights.
I hope that when Mr. Lui gets a sack, the Broncos play this song for all of us to hear.
Twilight star Taylor Lautner
Sonatane Lui was a state of Utah 5A Honorable Mention defensive lineman. He was also a MaxPreps Utah All-Region 3 First Team.
The defensive line for the Broncos is going to be busy next year with a lot of possible combinations and changes. With all the losses on the line that the Broncos had from last year, the staff went out at got some good talent with Curtis Weaver and Jabari Watson. Well, the coaching staff decided not to stop there and wanted to add some more bodies that could play right away.
Enter Mr. Lui. While he hasn't played much (or at all) competitively for two years, he's had an opportunity to mature both physically and mentally just simply by being two years older than the normal freshman that enters college. He should be game-ready in that regard for the Broncos as an immediate chance at depth (Drew pointed out that possibility for Chase Hatada). Those same comments can be said for Lui. Though just simply based on regarded reputation and fanfare it may appear that Mr. Lui will see limited time. Probably special teams, at first anyway. We shall see, though, if he works his way up the depth chart. Would be a pretty fun story to see. The best way for a player to have a "come from nowhere" breakout season is for me to pooh-pooh his appearance on the roster. I look forward to Mr. Lui proving me wrong and just start wrecking offensive lines.
Is he on Twitter?
Sure is. But his account is not what you would call "very active." In fact he's got four total tweets. One is a retweet of a post his girlfriend made and the rest are just responses to other people. So, despite that, if you are interested in following him his handle is @fehoko_lui.
Completely NOT made up fact
He can sing and play the guitar. And he's pretty good.
