Boise State's Elijah Armstrong wins the Mountain West Conference championships 10k

He was running to beat the clock, and a future pilot!

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The win happened late last night so you may have missed it.

Elijah Armstrong becomes the first Bronco to mark a win while in the Mountain West Conference!

Which is great and a little unsurprising as the Pocatello freshman has been having himself quite the year. In cross country he was the 2015 Mountain West Freshman of the Year and an all-MWC cross country second team selection.

Mr. Armstrong's time at the Mountain West track & field championships is faster than his cross country 10k best of 30:43.9. Which is to be expected considering the cross country course was probably not a flat track. But Mr. Armstrong's photo-finish to win was quite the feat.

The Broncos need a good showing here to make some NCAA representation. Armstrong's performance will bolster the Broncos' chances.

As a team, this (along with the other finishes in the race) gives the Broncos an extra 16 points.

Want to watch the end of the race? It is actually quite harrowing as he just barely beats out second place finisher senior Patrick Corona of Air Force. The announcer gets into the finish which adds to the excitement.

Congratulations to Mr. Armstrong on the win and, hopefully, as a freshman he will be able to add more trophies to his coffers.
