Boise State women's basketball team gets four honored by Mountain West

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

As a surprise to no one (that has been paying attention) four Broncos on the women's basketball team have been honored with All-Mountain West Conference selections. These Broncos have been the backbone for the team's success this year and only fitting that they get this great recognition.

  • Brooke Pahukoa, G, Jr -- All Mountain West team
  • Shaylen Shaw, G, So -- All Mountain West team
  • Miquelle Askew, C, Sr -- Honorable Mention All Mountain West
  • Marta Hermida, G, Fr -- All Mountain West Freshman team; Freshman of the Year
The Broncos begin the rough slog of their MWC tournament title defense on Tuesday. The Broncos get the benefit of a first round bye and then face the winner of UNLV or Air Force. The Broncos split the series with UNLV and won the only match up they had against the Air Force Falcons.

The challenge comes afterwards, if the Broncos are able to make it out of their opening game. They have to face the #2 seed Fresno State. The Broncos lost the only game they had against the Bulldogs in the regular season. And if they are able to get past the Bulldogs? Looms Colorado State. The #1 seed and the destroyer of the MWC this year. The last tip off saw the Rams beat the Broncos by 32 points (ouch).

Be that as it may, the Broncos honored here are well-deserving of their accolades and hopefully will be able to defend their title!
