Final: Boise State 66, San Diego State 63
Boise State trailed by 7 points with under 50 seconds to play...so you're forgiven if you turned off the television set and yelled into your therapy pillow. Here's the thing though. Boise State won. Nick Duncan dropped 2 treys in the span of 46 seconds and the Aztecs went cold from the foul line en route to one of the crazier finishes of the basketball season. The win didn't do anything to keep the Aztecs from reveling in their regular season championship...but it definitely took the sting off Stopwatchgate and that epic late meltdown in Albuquerque. Remember, the Broncos were without star James Webb in the contest and frankly, SDSU doesn't lose when they are leading late—the Aztecs had won 164 straight when leading with 5 MINUTES to play...their streak of wins with under a minute to play has to extend much longer.
Chandler Hutchison led all Broncos in the contest with 16 points and Nick Duncan pulled down a team-leading 10 boards. Paris Austin was the third leading scoring for BSU, which is noteworthy for a true freshman on the road against a stingy, stingy defense. Here's some tweets, followed by stats.
