We move on to the uncomfortable phase of the schedule. A dreaded triple option team. With the last three games being one of frustration for the offense, but a pleasant surprise for the defense, we wait with bated breath to see if the Broncos can add another pelt to the revenge wall from last year. Utah State was the first, will New Mexico be the next?
- Alex Mattison rushing yards
- Chanceller James tackles
- Successful PATs
What do I get if I win?
A week’s worth of bragging rights.
What about the Utah State predict the score?
There was a lot of confidence last week due to the (fan’s) expectation of a #BEATEMDOWN. Well that never really came into fruition. While the offense moved the ball where they could, the score was a much more tame 21-10. So who came the closest? That would be Nuggie BroncoFever with a prediction of 27-14. Which is pretty darn close to what the actual score was, all things considered. So BroncoFever, this one is for you:
Your guess is better than mine on these things. While I certainly hope for a 50-burger, and zero points for the New Mexico Lobos, that is probably unrealistic. I do know that the Lobos do not really have much of a defense to speak of, while the Broncos have the no. 5 rushing defense in the nation heading into tonight’s game. And the Broncos average the most sacks per game at 4.25 (not sure how much that is going to help unless the defense falls asleep and gets beat deep). The one thing in which I take solace is a solid defense.
