Another week, another win! Yeah, it was a close one and we all had roughly 4 heart attacks during the game, but we still won. A very notable point is this: our team committed 5 turnovers, yet still won. THAT. IS. INSANE. Next up is a trip to Wyoming to take on a surprising Cowboy squad. I have no doubt Coach Harsin will have them ready.
Also of note, Jay Ajayi did Jay Ajayi things.
This surprised none of us. We all knew Jay’s potential; it was only a matter of time.
Now, on to the recruits!
Jermani Brown, ATH, Midlothian HS (Midlothian, VA)
Midlothian lost another to Monacan Friday 45-13, moving to 2-7. For whatever reason MaxPreps is showing 45-7, but the local paper is what I’m going with.
Per usual, I can’t find stats for him. No article this week either, so I’m not sure if he played or not.
Believe me, I’d LOVE to have some stats. Hopefully, at worst, we will have all of them by years end. Midlo has another bye this week. They will get Clover Hill at home on the 4th.
Marques Evans, DB, Newbury Park HS (Newbury Park, CA)
Newbury Park lost to undefeated Calabasas 40-7 on Friday, moving to 5-3 on the year. They lost their star QB in the first quarter, which limited the offense the rest of the game. Stats for Evans aren’t available yet, but for the season he has 8 receptions for 136 yards and 2 TDs, 27 total tackles, 19 solo, 1 TFL, 1 INT, 5 passes defended and I fumble recovered. He did have a short clip from the game.
Newbury Park travels to Moorpark on the 28th.
Zeke Birch, DT, Madison HS (Rexburg, ID)
Madison lost to Skyline on Friday 28-10, moving them to 7-2 on the year. Stats are not available for Zeke, per usual.
Madison gets Meridian at home on Friday.
Aisa Kelemete, DE, Highland HS (Pocatello, ID)
Highland continues their win streak with a 24-9 victory over Hillcrest, improving to 6-3 and a perfect 4-0 in conference. While I couldn’t find stats, there is this amazing recap from the local news. By amazing, I mean it is not good. Listen to it just the same, you’ll get a kick out of it. I did find an exceptional highlight tape that leads me to believe Aisa had 37.5 sacks in the game
Highland has a bye this week and await their first opponent for the playoffs on the 4th.
Isiah Moore, OT, Mesa CC (Mesa, AZ)
Mesa had a by this week, but I did find highlights for Isiah from last week.
Mesa travels to Scottsdale CC on the 29th.
Breydon Boyd, LB, Katy HS (Katy, TX)
Katy took down Tompkins 42-7 on Thursday, improving to 6-2, 5-0 in districts.
I still have yet to find solid stats for Breydon, but I’ll keep my eyes open for sure. MaxPreps has no stats for him all year. The ALSO have his name spelled “Braden” which seems odd.
Katy gets Strake Jesuit at home on Saturday.
Michael Young, DB, Dodge City CC (Dodge City, KS)
Dodge City lost to undefeated Garden City 36-7 on Saturday, moving the Conquistadors to 6-3 on the year, 3-2 in conference. Michael had 2 tackles and a pass breakup in the loss.
Dodge City gets Coffeyville at home on Saturday.
Chase Cord, QB, Sunrise Mountain HS (Peoria, AZ)
Sunrise Mountain blanked Greenway on Friday 54-0, moving to 8-1 on the season and 4-0 in section. Chase was 11-16 (68.8%) for just 165 yards, but a whopping 5 TDs. He also had 2 carries for 17 yards and another TD. For whatever reason, MaxPreps has different stats than the local paper for Chase too. It also doesn’t sound like Chase played much, if at all, in the second half.
Chase is now 105-178 (58.9%) for 1,640 yards, 23 TDs and 4 INT. He also has 55 carries for 108 yards and 5 more TDs.
Sunrise Mountain takes on Mingus at home on Friday.
Mike Young, OT, Queen Creek HS (Queen Creek, AZ)
Queen Creek blanked Vista Grande 36-0, improving to 8-1, 3-0 in section. Mike had 4 tackles, 2 solo, 1 TFL, and an interception that he returned 54 yards.
Queen Creek travels to Williams Field on Friday.
Quentin Brown, LB, Conroe HS (Conroe, TX)
Conroe lost to The Woodlands on Friday 48-7, dropping to 3-5, 0-4 in district. While I could not find stats for Quentin in the loss, he did have some highlights.
Conroe travel to Lufkin this Friday.
Tyreque Jones DB, San Gorgonio HS (San Bernardino, CA)
SGHS defeated Rim of the World 21-0 on Friday, moving to 5-3 on the year, 3-0 in league. While stats weren’t available for the game yet, Tyreque accounted for at least 2 touchdowns.
Stats for last week’s game against Rialto was available. He had 1 receptions for 47 yards and 1 TDs on offense. One defense he had one solo tackle.
The Spartans get Arroyo Valley at home on Friday looking to stay unbeaten in conference play.
That will do it this week for the future Broncos. Tune in next week! GO BRONCOS!
