Wake Up Bronco Nation 1/28/2016: Boise State Men's basketball loses; Women win

Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

We're over the hump children. Now only two days to the weekend. Got any great plans?! On to the links!

Darian Thompson still being Darian Thompson: Awesome

Check out this video from the Baltimore Ravens where they ask Thompson who he models his game after. Thompson shows up in the 1:40 mark.

Thompson has been making waves during his time at the Senior Bowl practices. Just do a cursory search of the former Bronco star and you can see nary a negative word about him. The draft scouts are seeing what we saw for four years: a stud football player, a great leader, and all-around good dude.

Can't say this enough: Good luck Mr. Thompson!

Boise State has found the offensive coordinator

While the announcement has not officially been released by Boise State yet, Hawaii's Coach Rolovich made a statement to the Hawaii media:

"Zak made the decision in the best interest of him and his family and we wish him well. Our focus is now on finding a replacement and moving forward. We recruit coaches and players the same way. We want people who want to be here and who fit into the Live Aloha, Play Warrior mold."

Zak Hill previously was the passing game coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Eastern Washington University Eagles. There he helped bring about Vernon Adams the noted football thrower, and test taker, for Oregon. Based on Hill's successes, and his potential, this should count as a "good get" for the Broncos. Though it is kind of awkward that Zak Hill's tenure at Hawaii was quite short, only 48 days, he has plenty of weapons on the Broncos roster. Coach Harsin will probably do the play-calling for the first little bit then (hopefully) let Hill have more leeway as he goes along. Looking forward to see what Hill can do. Especially with recruiting.

Women's basketball beats UNLV

That makes five in a row now. In a game where four Broncos were had double-digit scoring they worked the Runnin' Rebels 75-56 led by Brooke Pahukoa's 20 points. Shay Shaw missed, but just barely, another double-double with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Marta Hermida had 14 points and 7 rebounds. Yaiza Rodriguez had 11 assists. The Rebels team total? 8.

The Broncos next play at New Mexico this Saturday at 2 p.m.

Broncos drop one to UNLV

Disappointing to see a winnable game for the Broncos slip through the proverbial fingers. Not a good loss when it comes to getting an at-large berth (if the Broncos cannot overtake San Diego State in the MWC tournament). While the Rebels were in foul trouble early on in the game, it was the turnovers that doomed the Broncos, yielding easy points to UNLV.

The men next play this Saturday at Taco Bell Arena at 3 p.m. against New Mexico. ESPN 3 will be broadcasting the game.

Koalas to the max. Two suggestions: 1) Keep going; 2) don't click if you have trypophobia.
