Final: Boise State 77, UNLV 87
The Broncos took an 8 point lead into halftime, but again came out flat in the second half and allowed the Rebels to claw their way back, and eventually overtake them in a sloppy, foul-ridden game in Vegas. The Broncos sluggish second half featured turnovers aplenty (11—with 18 total on the night, a season high) and despite outrebounding the Running Rebels and contributing more points from the bench, the turnovers and lack of points in the paint aided in the Broncos' second conference loss of the season.
Mikey Thompson led all Broncos with 19 points and Paris Austin provided some spark from the bench...and of course, James Webb poured in his regular double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds, but the refs called the game extremely tight and Webb and Drmic ended up in foul trouble down the stretch forcing Coach Rice to sit them both for a spell.
The Broncos fall to 15-6 with the loss and will have to find a way to right the ship quickly with New Mexico coming to town on Saturday. It's no stretch to say playing two good halves of basketball has eluded the Broncos thus far, but unfortunately it's become a real threat to their postseason aspirations. Full stats are below.
